I felt so beautiful, and for once, I wasn’t self-conscious. I’m slowly accepting my body type, and am learning to love myself. :)

Anonymous asked: According to an email we sent to SWAK earlier (with a link to the post)- "Tess Munster was not mis-quoted in her interview. Furthermore, the entire, finished editorial was shared with her prior to promotion for approval and feedback. Her opinions expressed were her own, personal feelings- her choice as to what styles she would wear to best address her body type and fashion goals." they also say "Tess has well-intentioned goals to share messages of confidence to the plus community."

Thank you for sharing this with me. I don’t really want to keep this drama going months after it started, but I do think it’s important that people know what SWAK’s side of the story is.

I do think that someone can be well-intentioned and engage in discourse that’s problematic — I make mistakes all the time! — but if you truly are well-intentioned your first response should be to acknowledge your mistake when you’re called out on it, or at least accept that another point of view exists. Tess seems to have a pattern of defending her own mistakes or blaming them on other people, or piling on people who don’t adore her, and I’m not going to continually reblog people like that.

Anonymous asked: LOL @ Tess. is this about the thing you posted over a month ago? She was pretty quick to reply when a negative comment showed up on the reblogs, so why so long to address this now?

Yup. I’m guessing she must have just been scrolling through tags (and pretty far back too), since I’m not a very big blog. But yeah, this is kind of old news, I was surprised.

tessmunster asked: I saw your post about my SWAK interview, and I wanted to let you know that I didn't say what they said I did. They interviewed me, took it out of context, and re-worded it. That happens in the industry, like it or not. You should be well aware of what happens in the media. Anyone that follows me or who has read other interviews knows that I have never said anything like that, nor or those my feelings. Perhaps that should have been considered before posting a long rant about me.

That sucks, a lot. I am definitely aware that misconstrued or reworded interviews happen all the time (as someone who has been both interviewed and has family who is frequently interviewed by the press). I am also aware of how much clean up has to be done afterwards to get the correct information out to the public.

I apologize if any feelings were hurt, but I also think it’s interesting that at no point before now did you mention that you were taken out of context. I got to that link through your blog: there was no mention of it being upsetting or out of context or of you thinking anything different, just of excitement.  Since you’re telling me in a public forum, I presume that SWAK doesn’t have any contract forbidding you from saying that, not to mention that protecting your persona is your right.

While I realize that everyone needs to advertise themselves to keep making money, I would be STEAMING if someone had made me the figurehead for women having to hide their bodies under flowy garments. No offense but what should probably be “considered” here is what SWAK is doing to your image. If you have never said anything like that or to that effect, it’s no different than someone attacking you with liquify in Photoshop, and you need to take care of that.

Also, as you might have noticed (or not), my rant was admonishing not just you but also SWAK, who I’ve also since been angry at for the same kind of speech in their own copy.

So, I’m not sure if SWAK is simply peddling the same crap as half a dozen other plus size designers who assume their demographic hates themselves and has taken advantage of your popularity, or if you’re doing some last-minute damage control here, but I think it should have been addressed up front if you were upset by it.

My intent was to address a problem being “voiced” by a beloved face of the plus community, not to attack you. If SWAK took advantage of you, they’re the ones you need to be sarcastic at, not me.
